When humanity is driven to near extinction by the third world war, a new government forms
within the surviving city of Eden to create a society in which all forms of religion are banned
on the basis that faith is the root of all war. The Scythian Knights, a special task force, are
trained to hunt down and eradicate anyone caught disobeying this law. To further prove its
power over man in life and death through science, the government of Eden has created Exsilium,
a massive sky barge in which the souls of the deceased are housed. It is both heaven and hell.
Citizens are monitored with micro chips throughout their lives, ensuring good behavior else they
suffer eternal punishment aboard Exsilium. Julian Mosely, a devoted Scythian Knight, is
promoted to First Class and partnered with General Sephiroth, who relishes war and bloodshed.
First Class knights are charged with patrolling the astral domain within Exsilium. When
mysterious tremors shake the barge, all of Eden is alarmed. Sephiroth suspects a resistance
movement hacking into the system. These faithful have banned together to fight for the freedom
of the human soul and believe that only the divine can chose one’s fate. But upon his first visit
into Exsilium, Mosely encounters a dark force that speaks to him in an unearthly voice. Mosely attempts to explain this “vision” as a hallucination brought on by Exsilium’s disorienting
environment, but he could not be farther from the truth. Powerful enough to rattle Exsilium at
its core, the Darkness proves to be something above man and technology. When it marks Mosely
with a series of stigmata, it changes him forever and imparts a message of doom: Exsilium will
soon be destroyed, and all of Eden with it.
