An ancient race descended from fallen angels fights for survival and salvation unaware that one
of their own, an exiled young man, holds the key to their future. Seth Corvin lives a nomadic life in small towns along the back roads of the American southwest, avoiding the family that shunned him, until his brother Ben arrives to escort him back to their clan, saying that their dying father wishes to have a last word with Seth. Soon the brothers are on the run, hunted by a deranged fallen angel
named Shemhazai, who is driven to destroy his own descendants in the hope of gaining redemption and be accepted back into the divine presence. The clans and Shemhazai have been in conflict for centuries, but why he is focused so violently on Seth is a mystery. When Ben suffers critical
injuries, the brothers must find refuge, and Seth accepts aid from Sammael, another fallen one who takes a neutral stance on the matter and has a strange interest in the brothers’ survival. Seth reveals
that in the time he’s been away he’s fathered a child with a human woman named Rachel. Mother
and child are both at risk, and Seth sets out on his own to bring them back and rejoin Ben for
the last leg of their journey. But Shemhazai seems to find them at every turn, pushing them on until Seth is forced to face who he really is… the savior of his race who can end this conflict and bring about the redemption that the clans have longed for.
