Feelin Like Samara

Many websites that I come across start out with
a bio from a third person's perspective. This
tends to irk me a lot as the majority of what
one calls 'Official Website' is run and written
by the same person talking about him or herself
from a third person's perspective.

There are many websites on me from someone
else's POV. Some bad, some good, none of them
I read. Perhaps I think it's harsh that people can
form opinions without knowing me as a person.
It is my hope they will get the chance over here
and decide for themselves.

I wasn't born in a poor family, neither did I pick up the camera at a tender age of 2. I was born in a
good christian family and we didn't watch TV or go to the movies. So the idea of wanting to become
a filmmaker never occurred in my mind. I grew up in a strict environment, where I wore a uniform
until I was 21. Went to an all boy's school in Singapore before I went to a boarding school in Australia.
I then served the army for 3 years. Perhaps the deprivation of clothes prompted me to aspire to become
a fashion designer. Since I wore uniform, there was this urge in me to explore the world beyond that
and create fashion. But as usual, my designs were very dark, sometimes revealing and I found that my
designs suited better in another world. A world that I started to create in my movies...

The world that I create in movies
exists only inside my mind. I am
very uninterested in the present
world as I find it to be boring and
mundane.

Perhaps fashion only allowed me to
express myself in a limited way. But I found films to be an excellent way to not only explore the dark and interesting regions of my mind, but also as a way to communicate with forces that remain unknown to me. Call it a higher power or God, but you can find out more about this obsession in 'The Goetia' section.

I won't go into details my achievements or awards. That can be found in 'Resume' section. But I hope you can see my career as a study and journey into the unknown.
